2007 NHS SCHOLARSHIPS OFFERED
ELISABETH CAREY MILLER
SCHOLARSHIP IN HORTICULTURE
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
The purpose of the scholarship is to support the research and education of a student enrolled in the graduate program at the Center for Urban Horticulture at the University of Washington, or in the University programs directly associated with the Center, such as the College of Forestry Resources or the Department of Landscape Architecture.
GUIDELINES
The intent is to support the efforts of a student with an environmental horticultural goal. The source of funds is from the interest accrued on the Northwest Horticultural Society Horticultural Education Fund, a $150,000 endowment.
The scholarship is not intended as a full scholarship but as financial assistance for a specific project. The student’s course of study is to concentrate on enhancing their knowledge of the unique environmental conditions and cultural requirements faced by plants growing in an urban environment and/or special related projects.
The scholarships are granted for one year only and are for no more than $2,500 each, and may be given to one or more students each year.
